The rapper A$AP Rocky has good style in nearly the whole lot: music, vogue, automobiles, romantic companions. So it’s no shock that he’s determined to make a foray into the world of interiors, parlaying his eager eye right into a “furnishings inside design studio” referred to as Hommemade, which made its debut on the Design Miami/ honest in Miami Seaside on Thursday.

(Certainly, he could have even prophesied it: “This shit is extra than simply rap for me,” he instructed GQ again in 2021, after he’d launched a capsule with the Parisian designer Marine Serre that he had begun designing from his cell in a Swedish jail. “I’m into design, I’m into element, I’m into elevated style worth.”)

Fittingly, Hommemade’s very trippy inaugural piece makes loads of sense for each A$AP Rocky and for the Artwork Basel crowd: it’s a five-and-a-half-foot-tall, toadstool-covered cactus corridor tree made in collaboration with the Italian design model Gufram, a key participant within the Italy’s midcentury Radical Design motion that first launched its signature CACTUS®—a bit that’s equal components sculpture and artwork object—again in 1972.

“That is the primary collaboration from my Hommemade decor studio, and since I’ve all the time advocated for mushrooms it was solely proper that we made a cactus with them,” Rocky, a longtime proponent of psychedelic substances, stated in a press assertion. Charley Vezza, Gufram’s world inventive orchestrator, concurred: “I might say this mushroom-based collaboration was a great journey.”

The nubby polyurethane cactus, whose base options an array of protruding shrooms in main colours, will probably be produced in a really restricted run of solely 9 items—which had been presumably catnip for fairgoers down in Miami this week. Whereas the Shroom CACTUS® could also be a splashy but hard-to-buy piece of A$AP’s world, the press launch guarantees that “his enterprise into furnishings design and homegoods” has extra to come back, as “Rocky goals to create items that defy normalcy, encourage creativity, and guarantee consolation.” A aim that sounds fairly groovy.
